Who Are The Homeless?

At the Atlantic City Rescue Mission, approximately 73% are men, 19% are women, and 8% are mothers with children. They range in age from newborns to the elderly. Some are well-educated, while others have little or no education. Over 30% of the homeless at the Mission have some degree of mental illness. Many have substance abuse issues. Most are without employment, although some have jobs that pay very low income.

Most importantly, they are individuals in need of help. Each person is unique, and each one’s path to homelessness is different. The one thing they have in common is that they received compassionate help at the Atlantic City Rescue Mission.
