Project Restart is a volunteer ministry that provides used furniture, small appliances, and household items to our homeless clients who are ready to move into their own housing. Without help from Project Restart, men, women, and families who have worked so hard to get back on their feet would end up sleeping on the floor in their new apartments because they lack the funding for furniture! But with help from Project Restart and you, they can receive all of the basic items they need at no cost.
How to Volunteer with Project Restart
Project Restart needs volunteers to help move furniture from donors' homes to our storage facility, or from storage to a client's new apartment. We are looking for physically strong people able to move furniture and boxes of items. It is helpful, but not necessary, if you own a pickup truck or cargo van and are willing to use your own vehicle. Hours needed include Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays, in the mornings, afternoons, or evenings.
All interested volunteers should contact our Volunteer Coordinator at 609-345-5517 and specify that you would like to volunteer with Project Restart. The Volunteer Coordinator will help you fill out the volunteer application and invite you for an interview.
How to Give Your Used Items
Volunteers from Project Restart will come pick up your items. To schedule a pickup, please call 609-345-5517 ext 114 and leave a message for Marsha, specifying your name, telephone number, where you live, and the items you have to donate. As they are often on the road picking up or delivering items, they will most likely call you back that evening or the next day. At that time they will schedule a pickup, usually for the following week. If they happen to be working in your area, your pickup may occur sooner.
