Chaplain's Assistant-Men's Division
- Days: Monday - Sunday
- Hours: 7am-11pm
- Duties: Monitor front entrance, answer phone inquiries, supervise meals, assist in showers, set up dorm with blankets and pillows, assist clients with phone calls.
Clothing Room Assistant-Women
- Days: Monday - Friday
- Hours: 10am-2pm; Tuesday & Thursday 5:30pm-7:30pm
- Duties: Sort clothing, organize clothing room, distrubute clothing.
Clothing Room Assistant-Men
- Days: Monday - Friday
- Hours: 9:30am-9:30pm MWF; 9:30am-2pm Tuesday & Thursday
- Duties: Sort clothing, organize clothing room, distribute clothing
Driver - Client Transportation
- Days: Monday - Friday
- Hours: 8am-1pm
- Duties: Drive clients to the Social Security office, minimum age 25, valid NJ Drivers License required.
Driver - Bread Run
- Days: Monday - Friday
- Hours: 8am-11am
- Duties: Pick up bread and other donations from local bakeries and businesses, minimum age 25, valid NJ Drivers License required.
Driver - Mail Pickup
- Days: Tuesday, Friday
- Hours: 10:30am-11am
- Duties: Pick up mail from post office, minimum age 25, valid NJ Drivers License required. Must be able to lift and carry heavy box.
Janitorial
- Days: Monday - Sunday
- Hours: 8am-8pm
- Duties: Empty trash cans, sweep and wash floors, wash windows, wash walls.
Receptionist - Administrative Office
- Days: Monday - Friday
- Hours: 8:30am-12:30pm shift, or 12:30pm-4:30pm shift
- Duties: Answer telephone and direct callers to the correct individual or department; page staff members using intercom, greet office visitors, provide administrative support such as fold letters and stuff envelopes. On-call receptionists are needed now to fill shifts for those who are sick or on vacation. Must be available at a day's notice.
Donor Communications
- Days: Monday - Friday
- Hours: 9am-4pm, Wednesday 9am-8pm
- Duties: Make brief phone calls to donors to thank them for their support.
Single Women's Evening Assistant
- Days: Monday - Sunday
- Hours: 5pm-10pm (a few consecutive hours during this time period)
- Duties: Assist caseworkers with distributing towels and toiletries, supervise clients for evening showers, assist with clothing distribution.
Tutors
- Days: Monday - Friday
- Hours: 9am-4pm
- Duties: Tutor adults in reading or math. Teach one or two-hour long session each week.
Data Entry
- Days: Monday - Friday
- Hours: 9am-4pm every day, Wednesday evenings 4pm-8pm
- Duties: Data entry on computer. Must have interest and aptitude to learn computer software and have good typing skills and high level of accuracy.
Truck Driver - Project Restart
- Days: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
- Hours: 9:30am-2:30pm
- Duties: Drive a large truck to pick up and deliver furniture donations. Commercial license not required. Driving only, no heavy lifting. Minimum age 25, valid NJ Drivers License required, safe driving record required.
Furniture Mover - Project Restart
- Days: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
- Hours: 9:30am-2:30pm
- Duties: Load and unload truck picking up furniture donations and delivering furniture to clients. Good people skills needed. Heavy lifting required.
Warehouse Assistant - Project Restart
- Days: Thursday
- Hours: 9:30am-11:30am
- Duties: Organize donations. Sort linens and organize by size, place in bags and label. Sort kitchen and household donations into categories. Clean and organize baby items.
Short-Term (or one-time) Volunteer Opportunities
Serve Meals (Good for Groups!)
Volunteer opportunities are available for lunch shifts Monday – Saturdays, or dinner shifts only, Mondays – Fridays only. Dress Code: Non-slippery, closed-toed shoes required; clothes that can take a “splashing”; and modest dress with no bare shoulders, please.

Farm Workers (Good for groups!)
Grow food for the homeless, the hungry and the poor. Community volunteers assist our mission residents to maintain our fields on “The Bruised Reed Farm” in Goshen in Cape May County. Families and groups especially love this activity. Groups and schools may wish to inquire about using their greenhouses to help with approved starter plants.
Farm activities, depending upon the time of the growing season, include:

Food Warehouse Assistant (Good for Groups!)
- Assist in organizing food products by category and expiration dates
- Organize pallets
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
Painter
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning and / or sanding
- Paint walls and trim
- Schedule is "as needed"
Hairdressers & Barbers
Cut clients hair (men and/or women and/or children) on site. Bring you won equipment and sterilizing materials.
Donor Communications
Make brief calls to donors to thank them for their support of ACRM and its programs and services. Hours available are Monday-Friday 9am-4:30 pm and Wednesday evenings 4:30-8pm.
